The New Fork was founded by Marieke de Ruyter de Wildt in 2017 as The Fork with the goal of achieving global food integrity through blockchain technology.
One of the first projects of The Fork was the creation of the Food Integrity Blockchained meetup. This monthly meetup, which has a network with over 1850 members, ran for over two years without interruption, highlighting a different blockchain and food use case every month. During the first meetup The Fork presented the results of the pilot study with Wageningen University and Research & TNO on blockchain for agrifood. This study on South African table grapes is the first research done on blockchain for agrifood.
The momentum continued, as new projects and new partnerships were realised. In collaboration with the Amsterdam Blockchain Lab, The Fork executes the StrikeTwo Summit which brings all members of the food supply chain together. The summit fosters an environment of open communication, innovation & partnership across the private sector, government and NGO’s, leading to action to solve the most crucial issues facing our food supply chain.
In January 2020 The Fork opened a new chapter and with this chapter comes a new name. The Fork B.V. evolved to The New Fork holding.
