My name is Erik Sárvári and I am currently interning for The New Fork. My university studies started in Austria in 2018 and according to the schedule, I will graduate in June 2021. My course is called Export-oriented Business Management. To be honest, before The New Fork I had not even heard of blockchain technology so this is an extremely new field to me. Agriculture was also something I had never studied or took an active interest in. I am always delighted to try new things in life but this experience turned out to be one of the best so far. As my time at The New Fork has gone on, my eyes were opened more and more to the potential in blockchain and agrifood. In the beginning it was really hard for me to follow the conversations because I was totally not familiar with the topics, but now I can truly say my knowledge has improved greatly. Obviously I still do have a lot more to learn, but I know I am on the right track. We hosted a blockchain masterclass on the 24th of April and I would like to share my personal experience in both the preparation and of the masterclass itself.
The New Fork has hosted many masterclasses before, but this was the first time in the digital format. Despite testing everything the day before, there were the usual challenges with speakers, screens and audio right up to the last minute. Luckily, with some teamwork, we got things running smoothly before the masterclass started. It was great to see the enthusiasm and charisma Marieke and Jacob had. You could tell they were excited to spread their knowledge of blockchain and agrifood with a new audience.
Honestly I did not know what to expect from the masterclass because it was my first time attending one, my goal was to learn something new. There was no doubt I would learn new things. Many people more experienced than myself chose to attend it in order to increase their already strong knowledge. My hope was that the explanations would be very clear because once I lose the flow, it is extremely difficult to get back. I was grateful that Marieke and Jacob explained the topic of blockchain in a crystal clear way. Besides the clear communication, we were able to see the presentation at the same time, which I found well-structured, professional, and easy to follow. Time flies when you’re having fun and the masterclass felt much shorter than 2,5 hours.
The masterclass was an enormous success, not only according to us, but also the participants. We’ve received some very nice comments on LinkedIn and it’s clear that participants found this to be a great use of their time. As a result, we’ve decided to add an extra Blockchain masterclass on the 28th of May. If you have been hesitant to join, hopefully this feedback will change that. See you on the 28th!
